HOW TO SOLVE GO (BADUK, WEIQI) PROBLEMS ONLINE, AND HOW TO USE THIS SITE
To improve at Go you need to practise on problems regularly. There is no need to solve a lot of them at once: as in anything else, what matters is steady effort. Solving 5-10-15 problems a day and spending 15 minutes of your time on it is enough to feel your understanding of the game and the skills it calls for growing before long. It is important that the problems you solve are neither too hard nor too easy, but match your current level or stand just a little above it. Then the effect is best of all. For this reason every section of this Go (Weiqi, Baduk) problem collection carries a comment stating the difficulty level of its problems. You can solve the problems by clicking on the interactive goban — the playing board right on the page. If your move is the right one, or matches one of the variations covered in the problem, a stone of the appropriate colour appears on the board. The goban runs on the open-source library WGo.js; special thanks for its development go to its author, Jan Prokop (https://wgo.waltheri.net/) The control buttons are below the board. "Hint" shows the correct continuation if the problem covers it. "Back" takes back the last move, and "Restart" returns the board to the starting position of the problem so you can try to solve it again. The site design uses drawings by Sania M., for which she has our special thanks. Some of the collections were probably put into electronic form by E. Matveev of St Petersburg, others by me, and the rest were taken from various sites on the internet. |
